The Second Annual Nora Arthur Memorial Tournament

On Friday 29th December we held the second Annual Nora Arthur Memorial Tournament at the club in which twelve teams of adult players, mentors and parents competed over the course of the afternoon for the memorial trophy named in honour of Nora.

The eponymous trophy was presented to the winning captain Mattias Mac Donncha (Tiz) on behalf of the winning Team 5 by Nora’s Dad, Neil.

THE FINAL AND THE OVERALL WINNERS

After 18 high-intensity and dramatic “group-stage” matches and two high-stakes semi finals, a tense and exciting final ensued between Team 12 and Team 5. Team 5 would eventually win the day by 4-0 with a second title in a row for young Cian O’Connor and a goal to boot! A worthy final for a brilliant day of sport and craic.

Not only that, but a whopping €2,900 (and still rising!) was raised for the very worthy cause of Oscar’s Kids. Well done to all involved. If you’d still like to donate, click here.

With apologies for the mediocre quality (!), some snaps from the day below.

Community Christmas Party

It was Clontarf GAA’s great privilege to host a wonderful Christmas Party for our local Ukrainian families today. Thanks to everyone who came, we hope you enjoyed it!

Huge thanks are due to all those involved in organising the event, led by Roisin Kelly in our Healthy Club team. That includes everyone who brought gifts and provided the lovely Irish and Ukrainian food and Manning’s Bakery for their seasonal delicacies. Particular thanks to the Sean Treacy Trad group, the Sean Gilligan Performing Arts group and our Ukrainian family singers and musicians for the fantastic entertainment.

Thanks also to our young leaders on the Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Programme who did the face painting and kids games - and of course to our special visitor Santa for taking time out from his busy schedule to join us to help make it such a truly special occasion!

Some great photos and videos are below.

New Hurls and Helmets for our Nursery!

Senior Men's Footballers are Dublin Champions!

A huge day for the club today as our Senior Men’s Football team became the first club team ever to win a Senior Championship in any code. It was the finest of margins in the end as Conor Rooney’s left boot saw the team pip Fingallians by a single point, but a magnificent team performance in the final quarter brought it all together. Massive congratulations to the whole team, the management group, physios and all the supporters who showed up in numbers to cheer the lads on to eventual victory!

A fantastic gallery of photos below from the amazing Pat Walsh. Thanks again Pat.

And, of course, thanks to the team sponsor Bright Motor Group for their brilliant support this year.

Chair's Night 2023

We had a fantastic night in the clubhouse this evening, with our Famous Five Women’s All Ireland Winners Caoimhe O’Connor, Niamh Hetherton, Mossie Ó Cuinneagáin, Mick Bohan and Willie O’Connor and the legend that is multi-All Ireland winner Jack McCaffrey in a fantastic chat with our own Damien O’Meara. A huge crowd of mentors and club helpers were in attendance to make it a most enjoyable evening.

Kevin also presented Club Person of the Year to Ciaran Doran, Mentor of the Year to Eoghan Hannigan and Club Legend or Laoch Chluain Tarbh to Anne O’Mahony.

A selection of photos from the evening are below with thanks to the PRO Team.

€20,000 Lotto shared between two winners!

Last week, our long overdue lotto win finally came and, like a Dublin Bus, you wait for ages and then two come at once! Huge congratulations to Conall Kehoe and Kevin Daly who were presented with their cheques for €10,000 in the Cúldoras bar last night by Club Chair Kevin Hoy and Jonathan Stafford from Stafford’s Funeral Home, our lotto sponsor. Well done lads and spend it well with all our best wishes!
