A Chairde,
You may have seen a recent email from me relating to sponsorship within the club. I would now like to take the opportunity to refer to a critically important fundraising opportunity that we plan to roll out in the coming week - the GAA National Draw.
This draw is organised centrally by the GAA and all monies raised, which can total up to €30,000, remain within the club. The GAA puts up all of the prizes including a car and large cash prizes of up to €20k. We had a very successful club draw last year, selling virtually all 2,000 tickets and raising €30,000 for the club. We wish to repeat this success in 2026. As I have mentioned before, members’ subscriptions cover only about half the running costs of the club so things like fundraisers and sponsorship are a vital component of financing the running of our teams. Hence, the importance of the National Club Draw.
Every team will get an individual spreadsheet with the ticket numbers entered and Ollie Mangan will distribute the actual tickets to teams early next week. Teams need to return the ticket sales in spreadsheet form plus the stubs and any unsold tickets by Wednesday February 18th at the latest, which is just before the mid-term break. In terms of adult players, we are asking senior players to purchase 3 tickets (cost 45 euro) while for other adult players, the request is to purchase two tickets (30 euro). The reason is the higher cost of running the senior teams in the club.
We will supply the club's bank account details of where monies raised can be lodged when the team spreadsheets are being sent out. We also accept cash when the tickets are being returned. So teams must return the completed spreadsheets, all stubs and unsold tickets plus the full amount raised in either cash or through a transfer of funds to the club's bank account. We don't want individual players or parents paying the club directly as it becomes impossible to keep track of ticket sales by teams.
For those members not involved with teams, tickets will be available for sale on Foireann (the GAA website where you purchase your membership). Some tickets will also be available to buy on the club website but we would ask those members not involved with teams to try and make ticket purchases through their Foireann account as the GAA has allocated some of our tickets for sale via this mechanism. There will also be some tickets for sale in the club bar.
The club would very much appreciate your support in making the National Club Draw a big success again in 2026.
Le meas,
Brendan, Club Chair.
