Welcome

As Cathaoirleach (Chair) of CLG Chluain Tarbh (Clontarf GAA Club), I would like to welcome you to our website. The club was founded in 1961 following a meeting in Belgrove Boys' School and so is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021. From such a humble beginning, Clontarf GAA Club is now the biggest sports club in the area. We currently have some 2,100 members, ranging from 4yrs of age in our nursery all the way up to our adult teams and members.

Our Nursery on a Saturday morning caters for around 500 boys and girls, ranging in age from 4-8 years. All the boys and girls are taught the basic skills in football, hurling and camogie by qualified coaches in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. The ethos of the club for all our young boys and girls, is one of participation, skill development and fun for all. Our All Stars, which began in 2019, caters for children with additional needs. It runs from 4.30-5.30pm on Friday evenings at our clubhouse on Seafield Road and is going from strength to strength.

The club is growing annually and fielding an increasing number of teams each year at men's and ladies' football, hurling and camogie. The club fields at all age groups in all four codes. In particular, there has been exponential growth in the numbers of girls/ladies playing Gaelic Games with the club over the past decade.  

At adult level, the club is really starting to reap the benefit of all the work that has been done in our Juvenile section over the last decade or more. The club now competes at senior level in men's football, ladies' football and hurling, with the latter two graduating to the senior ranks in recent years. We are also back playing camogie at adult level after a break of a number of decades. A high point in the history of the club came in 2018 when our adult ladies won the All Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. 

We have seen more and more of our players represent Dublin men's and ladies' teams at various adult and juvenile grades over the past decade, including captaining Dublin Championship winning teams. Jack McCaffrey has been the shining light of the club in this regard, winning multiple All Ireland Senior Football medals, All Star awards and well as being voted GAA footballer of the year. Clontarf had four players on the Dublin Senior Ladies' football team that won its fourth consecutive All Ireland title in 2020. 

The club has developed a number of high quality playing facilities in recent times, including two full-sized floodlit pitches in St Anne’s Park and a 60m x 40m floodlit synthetic facility at our club house. This facility is used by our juvenile teams, as well as both Belgrove boys and girls schools during the day. As the club continues to grow, demand for additional facilities continues to increase and the club is committed to adding additional playing and training facilities over the coming years.

New members are always very welcome, whether playing or non-playing. If your playing days are over, perhaps you could help us with coaching, fundraising or club administration activities. Please contact any of the people below and they will be delighted to talk to you. We hope that our website will provide a platform for greater communication within the club itself, and further afield in the sharing of information on Gaelic Games in Cluain Tarbh.
