 Welcome to Clontarf GAA Minimize

The dramatic growth in membership since 2000 necessitated the development of training, playing and meeting room facilities in line with the membership expansion. In 2002 we undertook the development of an all weather synthetic training pitch at the rear of our clubhouse on Seafield Road. This facility equipped with floodlights and costing 400,000 euro was funded out of club resources and has proven to be of enormous benefit in developing the skills of our players and enhancing the reputation of the club within the Clontarf area. It is regularly used for club member’s kid’s birthday parties and the local boys and girls school which are adjacent to the clubhouse enjoy access on a daily basis. During the winter season the all weather pitch is fully utilised from 3pm to 10pm every evening.

Following the successful development of our Astro pitch the club Executive looking to the future and wanting to ensure the continual development and access to top class facilities for its members started a project to develop our facilities in St Annes Park. In August 2006 work began on developing 2 full sized all weather natural grass Gaelic pitches at St Anne's equipped with match standard floodlights and updating the changing facilities to meet the needs of not just the growing membership but the dynamically growing ladies and girls section which now accounts for 400 of our 1400 members. The 18 month project was completed on time and opened for its first game in May 2008. The project had a budgeted cost of 1,450,000 euro with National Lottery funding contributing 500,000 euro and the remaining balance raised through bank borrowings and a member’s covenant scheme which generated 500,000euro.

The success of the club can be seen in the growth of popularity of Gaelic games in the Clontarf area and the ever growing demand for access to our facilities in both St Annes and on Seafield Road. In 2008 the Dublin Ladies GAA Board awarded Clontarf their “Club of the Year” award in recognition of the time, effort and energy the club has put into developing girls and ladies football in the capital. New members are welcome at all times, be it playing, coaching or social. Just send us an e-mail, contact a member of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE or just drop in to the Clubhouse on Seafield Road. We hope that the Website will provide a platform for greater communication within the Club itself and further afield in the sharing of information on Gaelic games in Clontarf.
