Fundraising Cycle 2017

The big fundraiser for 2017 is a 100 km cycle on the 1st of May 2017 (May Bank Holiday). As you are all aware, the club is growing quickly, but this means that it costs more to run. We are planning to run the cycle to raise much needed funds. The added benefit is that we can all get fit at the same time!

THE PLAN

        *     Teams up to four (all female, all male or mixed)

        *     100 km Clontarf-Duleek (Co. Meath)-Clontarf

        *     50 km  Clontarf-Duleek and bus back to club

        *     Cost of team 800 euro

All team members must complete the registration form and waiver. Please return to Trish Duffy or Brian O'Callaghan

THE BIG DAY - Monday May 1st

Arrive at Clontarf GAA club at 7:15 sharp (must have a cycling helmet)

In the club there will be three zones:

Zone One (100Km cyclists pace 25Km/Hr), when you go in the gate turn right.

Zone Two (100Km cyclists pace 20Km/Hr), when you go in the gate turn left.

Zone Three (50Km cyclists), when you go in the gate go to the Gym/astro area.

Go to your zone and leave your bike there.

Walk to registration (at the main doors into the club) and sign in and receive number for helmet (must have number on helmet for insurance), there will be three registration tables one for cyclists representing Girls GAA teams, one for cyclists representing Boys GAA teams and one for cyclists representing Corporate/Executive/Sponsors Teams.

After registration go back to your Zone for the safety briefing.  Important point is that we need to keep at two abreast and a lot of people will not have cycled in large groups so please be very aware of this fact. Do not overtake the lead car in each group.

When your zone is called after the safety briefing please move to the road area ready for the start.

On route if you have any problems with your bike, please pull into the side and a Motorbike Marshal will inform the support vehicle who will fix your bike/puncture (courtesy of our sponsor Little Sport Bike Shop) or by the Order of Malta if it is a medical problem.

On arrival at Duleek GAA club please leave bikes in the car park and inside the club sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee will be available. We hope to make this a quick stop to get people back on the bike after 15/20minutes.

For people who are doing the 50Km please put your bikes in the lorry (Jordan Transport truck) outside the GAA club and jump on the coach when all cyclists have arrived at Duleek GAA.

The lorry with the bike will follow the coach back to Clontarf GAA and you need to take your bike off the truck then.

For people cycling the 100Km when you arrive back at Clontarf GAA Club you can go home then and put your feet up for a while.

At 4:30 the meal sponsored by Camile Artane will be served in the club hall. All cyclists (50Km and 100Km) will receive a meal voucher and some drink vouchers on entry to the club via the main front entrance as a thank you for all your hard peddling.

At 5:30 the club is open for all to come down have a few drinks and outside catering will be available to purchase (Dave's Pizza, a Crepe Van and a small sweet shop) also the astro will be open for the kids.
