Clontarf 2-9 (2-5) St. Anne's 1-10 (1-5)

Playing into a stiff breeze in the first half Clontarf found themselves a point behind after four minutes.Shane McIntyre then missed with a 30-metre free kick before Cian Reidy kicked an excellent point from play to level matters in the 10th minute.Clontarf then took control of the game with Shane McIntyre finding his range. He kicked three points from frees without reply from St. Anne's to give Clontarf a four pt. to one pt. lead.St. Anne's then kicked two points to get the lead back to a single point.On 20 minutes Daragh O'Brien put Shane Dunlea through on goal. His shot was brilliantly saved by the St. Anne's keeper, only for Robbie Farrell to collect the rebound and rifle home from close range.St. Anne's replied with a free kick to make the score 1-4 to 0-4.A great point from play form Shane McIntyre restored Clontarf's four-point lead and the home side seemed to be coasting.
Then on 35 minutes disaster struck the Clontarf side. Slow to clear the ball from defence St. Anne's stole the ball to score a goal and reduce the gap to a single point once again.Rather than let their heads drop Clontarf worked the ball straight up to the other end of the field and Shane McIntyre capped a super first half performance by hammering home a goal to restore Clontarf's four point lead.Just on the stroke of half time St. Anne's counter-attacked and scored a late point to leave the score 2-5 to 1-5.
The second half was a much more dour affair with neither side managing a score for the first 12 minutes.St. Anne's were on top and eventually they started to make their dominance count.They scored four points without reply to lead for only the 2nd time in the game. Shane McIntyre kicked over another free in the 50th minute to score Clontarf's first point of the second half.Cathal Carr then kicked a great point from play to put Clontarf ahead again by a single point. St Anne's replied with an equalising point in the 60th minute to level the scores 2-7 to 1-10.In injury time Shane McIntyre kicked two more frees to seal victory for the home side.
