 Extended Notes, June 17th Minimize

Senior Footballers v Erin's Isle 1-7 to 0-12 loss.  Sadly a very poor performance against a very poor opposition and definitely a costly 2 points lost.  On the positive side we came back from a 0-10 to 0-1 first half to win the second half 1-6 to 0-2.  Some character shown by one or two players but the majority showed a lack of composure in a game where one or two scores would have ensured a badly win.  We must learn from this game, pull together as a team and turn around our Season starting immediately.

Junior As lost in the Championship yesterday to a strong Round Towers side but put up a very good display.

Junior Hurlers have a Championship game at home on Thursday and Junior B Footballers play Championship at home on Friday night all support welcome

The U10's boys football team played in a blitz competition hoisted by Naas GAA. Clubs involved were ourselves, Naas , Moorefield and Sarfields ( both from Newbridge ) and Portlaois GAA.   There were 2 competitions .One for the A teams and One for the weaker teams.   Clontarf won both. It was a fantastic day and achievement considering we were missing 15 players.

We wish our U10 mentor, John Hynes a speedy recovery from his accident.  He knocked off his bike travelling to the games in Naas . He has a broken ankle but hopefully will be out of hospital today.

The trophies will be handed over to the club next week to keep for safe keeping. Watch the Club website for photos.

Under 11 Hurling – teams were depleted in numbers but played well losing narrowly to Raheny 1-5 to 3-0 and 2-2 to 2-4

U12 A Hurlers had a great win in their Cup Semi Final against St. Sylvester's. It was a great team effort with all players contributing to a fine performance.  Clontarf were well in control at half time with a lead of 2-5 to 0-2 thanks to scores from Cian O'Flaherty (top scorer) and Conor Murphy. On the resumption of the second half Clontarf continued their fine form with great defensive work by Andrew Foley, Fiachra Maher and Aaron Casey to keep St. Sylvesters at bay.  Further scores from Conor McGinn and Cian ensured  Clontarf ran out deserving winners on a final score of Cluain Tarbh  4-9 St Sylvesters 1-2.

U16 football Div 3  Clontarf lost to St. Pat's of Palmerstown

Girls

Under 10 Div 1 girls finished their league with a great win over Na Fianna.  A great display from all the girls on the panel.

Girls Under 10 Div 3 had their match conceded by St. Brigid's and Na Fianna kindly agreed to play a friendly instead.  The game produced a number of firsts for the team – first point from a free, (Laoise), first point from play, first true goalkeeping save (Cliodhna) and first victory.  The usual positive effort by all with the added excitement of a win.

Great team performance from the Under 12 Girls today with an outstanding win over Sylversters.  5-13 Under to 1-1.

Una Raymond-Hoey was superb throughout as were all the team with the scores coming from 7 players.  Fiona Terry 1-3, Katie Murray 0-5, Eva Kelly 1-2, Amy O Meara 1-1, Ciara Plunkett 1-1 Ailsling Coyne 1-0 and Roisin mc Caffrey 0-1. The overall team performance was stunning with each and every player contributing to the overall success.  One match left in the League next Thursday and then to Croke park to see the Dubs on the 29th June as our team outing – hopefully they will beat Westmeath with the same confidence as our girls played today.

Junior footballer, Fergal Lynch, heads the field in our G.A.A. Forecast Competition with 9 fixtures left.Fundraising BBq in the Clubhouse on Sunday next at 3.30p.m. Proceeds to Ranchod Hospice Appeal
