Hard luck to our Minor Footballers who narrowly lost the Championship Final to Fingallians (2-5,1-7). Thanks to Garristown GFC for providing a great pitch at short notice and well done to Fingallians on their victory. Senior Footballers take on St. Brigids on Wed, 7:45pm, pitch 35 in a vital league relegation playoff, all support welcome. Adult Hurling training on the astro,Thur 8:45pm and challenge match away to Faughs on Sunday.Thanks to St. Vincents U12's for providing pitches for great pre-season games. Seniors lost to Erins Isle in the Cup (0-6,2-6), with Ger Ryan in superb form. Junior B Footballers drew with Beann Eadair in the Cup, best were Conor Kelly and Ciaran Johnston. U16 Div 2 Footballers had a winning start to the league away to Cuala, with all players contributing to a fine team performance. U13 Footballers defeated Cuala and lost to Lucan. U12's had a great start to the year with the A team having a big win over Donabate and B team coming from behind to beat Castleknock. Footballers had 2 great victories over St. Oliver Plunketts with a fantastic team display. Well done to Under 11 hurlers on 2 great wins V Kilmacud Crokes, best were Eoin Macnamee, Declan Adamson, Grellan Murray and Jack Higgins. U10's won all 3 games V Donaghmore of Ashbourne. Seniors lost in the AIB Cup to Parnells (2-11,0-6), with John McGuire impressive at corner back on his debut and John O'Halloran gave a spirited performance in the No. 7 shirt. Adult Football leagues commence for all 3 junior teams next Sunday. U15 Footballers were narrowly beaten by Erin's Isle (3-3,3-5), best for Clontarf were John Wall, Ronan McDyer, James Barry and Maitias McDonagh. U13 A and B teams both had fine wins (match reports on website). The U11's had 2 fantastic victories over Na Fianna at the weekend. U10's played 3 thrilling games against Na Fianna, losing overall by the narrowest margin 69pts to 68pts. Well done to the U9 hurlers who played the last week of the Gormanstown Indoor Tournament and came away with medals, while U9 footballers red group achieved two wins and one loss against Na Fianna in 3 well contested games. Annual dinner dance takes place on Sat in Clontarf Castle at 7:30pm and the event is a sell out.

It was a great weekend for Adult Football with wins for all 4 teams. Seniors defeated O'Tooles (0-9,3-7) in the AIB Cup with Minor star Ian O'Dwyer (1-4) starring. Junior A's defeated Good Counsel in the league (3-7,2-7), with a solid team performance and excellent leadership from Ro Kenny. Junior B's defeated St Colmcilles, best were Colm Kilfeather, Patrick Breen and Fergus Clifford. Junior C's beat Naomh Barrog (2-17,0-4), best were Ronan Dodd, Feo Dodd and Paddy Mohan. Minor Hurlers drew with Cuala, best were Aidan O'Donohoe and Daragh Golden. U14 Footballers beat Castleknock (6-6,3-11).Thanks to Patricia Reynolds for organising a very successful dinner dance at Clontarf Castle where over 250 attended. Clubperson of the year award was shared by Donal Nolan and Declan O'Grady, in recognition of their outstanding contributions over the past 6 years to the development of our facilities at St. Annes Pk.

Adult Hurlers defeated Kilmacud Crokes in their 1st outing of the season (0-11,2-11). Best for Clontarf were Eoin Cronin, John Devine, Ciaran Johnson. Seniors lost to Brigids in the cup, despite a great display from John O'Halloran. Junior B's had a hard fought win against Erin Go Bragh in the Murphy Cup. U13 Hurlers had a fantastic draw away to Castleknock in their 1st league game.U12 A and B teams both had hard fought wins against Naomh Mearnog. Best wishes to Stephen Quigley for a speedy recovery from an eye injury suffered in the game V Naomh Mearnog.Despite a valiant effort U10's lost out in a tough battle away to Naomh Mearnog.U9's defeated Fingallians and lost to St. Vincents.Adult players award night takes place on Monday March 16th, all are welcome to attend. Seniors narrowly lost opening league game to St. Finians (0-12,0-10). Juniors A's came from behind to earn a draw V Plunketts. Junior B's beat Liffey Gaels, best were David Hempenstall, Patrick Breen, Donal Redmond and Mark McNamee. Junior C's remain unbeaten after defeating Erins Isle (0-14,0-4), best were Ronan Dodd, Craig McConnell and Mickey McGlinchey. Minor hurlers had a great win over Nh Mearnog, with Ross Fitzpatrick outstanding.U16 Footballers had a great win over Skerries, while U13 Footballers continue to impress in Div 1. Under 12A Hurlers drew with St. Vincents in Div1. U11 Hurlers had a great victory and U9's performed brilliantly in the 1st league game. U13 girls had a great match against Fingallians, with outstanding performances from Sorcha O Byrne and Kate Mc Gonnigle. Team of the week are our U13 Hurlers who overcame a 10 pt half time deficit to defeat Thomas Davis. Junior B footballers continued their good form, beating St. Brigids in the cup, best were Donal Redmond, Paul Murphy, Niall O'Reilly and Richard Bunworth. AHL 5 Hurlers lost by 1pt to Crumlin. AHL 8 hurlers made history for the club in fielding a 2nd Adult hurling side. In a close contest V Wild Geese Clontarf finished in style with 3-1 in the closing minutes to win their 1st league game. U14 hurlers had a great victory over Scoil Ui Chonaill. Injury hit Under 12A Footballers lost to Naomh Mearnog, while B team went down to Fingal Ravens. Wishing speedy recoveries to Jack, Fiach, Shane and especially Stephen O'Quigley. U11 footballers recorded 3 hard fought wins, while U10's produced a winning performance in the Raheny blitz. AFL3 team were well beaten by Naomh Mearnog despite good displays from Stephen Coen and Ger Ryan. Junior B's remain unbeaten in AFL8 with a good win over Beann Eadair. Junior C's were well beaten by Fingal Ravens. Minor Hurlers beat St. Marks (2-9,0-9), best for Clontarf were Conor Cronin, Aidan O'Donohoe and Harry Connolly. U16 Footballers battled well in losing their U16A Championship match. U12 hurlers put in another great performance in Div 1, going down 4-2,2-1 to southside kingpins Kilmacud Crokes. Kevin Mangan was man of the match and Bill Perryman was brilliant in goal. Well done to all the U11 hurlers who record 3 wins at the weekend. U13 Girls had an outstanding win on their first league match of the season against Ballyboden St Enda's 4-8 to 0-2. Fantastic team performance with outstanding displays from Amy O'Meara and Mary Shanahan. Both U11 Girls teams lost to late goals but performed brilliantly in their opening games of the season. Great wins for both Adult hurling teams. AHL 5 team defeated Civil Service by 4pts with Eoin Cronin, Ken Scully and Damien Carew all excellent. AHL 8 team defeated Kilmacud (3-11,0-6) with a great battling team performance and huge displays from Chris Geoghegan, Craig McConnell and Captain Neil Arthur. There were big wins for U13 Hurlers, U11 and U10 Footballers. Mikey Holloway scored 3 great goals as U12A team lost to Ballymun (5-9,5-8) in a thriller. U11A hurlers lost to a good Na Fianna side. Ladies Inters and Juniors recorded good wins in the cup. Well done to the 4 Clontarf players on Dublin Adult squads last weekend - Carrie O'Connor with the seniors and Helen Cliffe, Siobhan Kennedy & Ciara Fenton. Well done to Barry Davis and Ciaran Hanson who were part of the winning Dublin North team at the Easter U12 Dublin Tournament. Adult Hurling training Tue & Thur 7pm. Clontarf Ladies Inters lost their opening league encounter by 2 points to St. Marks, when they conceded two goals in the closing 6 minutes Anne-Marie Heery was solid in defence, and the scores came from Sarah McGrath (1-4), Carrie O'Connor (0-3), Niamh McNally, Ruth Reynolds and Sarah Murphy (0-1).The Ladies minor team suffered a defeat against a very strong Ballyboden side.  Ballyboden did most of the damage in the first half, however the Clontarf backs shut them down in the second half and very few balls got through. As part of the GAA 125th aniversery, La na gClub will be held on Sunday May 10th with a series of events taking place over the course of the day.Details will be available on our website in the coming week. www.clontarfgaa.com

A good week for our AFL 3 Footballers with wins over Garda and Thomas Davis and good performances from Brian Stokes, Shane Dunlea and Ian O'Dwyer. Junior B's remain unbeaten in AFL 8 with 2 more great wins. Junior C's received a walkover. Minors lost to St. Sylvesters despite an 8 pt lead, best were D. Golden, H. Connolly and P. Mohan. It's a big week for Adult Hurling with Championship action. A's host Cuala on Wed, B's host Erin Go Breagh on Thur. Both games are at 7pm, all support welcome. Ladies Inters drew with Kilmacud in the cup, with great goal from Carrie O'Connor and Ruth Reynolds. U16B's lost in Championship despite a good 1st half performance. A big week in the Adult Football Championships with all 4 teams in action. Seniors play Erin's Isle, Wed 7:15pm at Balgriffin. Details of all fixtures on the club website, all support welcome. Junior A hurlers had 2 good Championhsip wins, over Cuala and St. Brigids, while Junior B hurlers lost narrowly but competed well, with Conor Cronin and Ro Hickey magnificant. Ladies Inters beat Raheny in the league. U16 Hurlers had a big win over Setanta. U14 hurlers had a good win over Round Towers, with Capt Conor Mullins terrific. U12A Footballers beat St. Pats and are now in league Div 1. U10's had tough away trip to Maurs and won all 3 games. Clontarf had a great victory over Erin's Isle in the Senior Football Championship (1-8,0-6), with great displays from Ian O'Dwyer (0-6), Shane Dunlea, Ger Ryan and the Stokes brothers. Junior A's beat Barrog. Junior B's beat St. Annes (3-10,2-6), best were Charlie Tracey, Paul Murphy, Richie Fox and Patrick Mohan. Junior C's lost by 3 pts to St. Vincents. U14 Footballers performed brilliantly to reach Feile semi-final, but lost to a fine St. Judes side before great home support. A massive congrats to our U11 Hurlers who reached the Dublin A Championship semi final with two wins over Whitehall. La Na gClub was a great day, thanks to all who attended the events and supported the club for the BBQ. Matt Whelan Snr was the 2 goal hero as the Junior C Footballers held on to beat an Over 35 Mentors selection. Peadar Hickey was crowned  2009 Hurling Skills champion. Seniors play Round Towers in the Championship on Wed at Blakestown, 7:15pm. Also Junior A and B teams play Championship next Sunday, all support welcome. Clontarf Ladies Inters lost in the cup to a strong Garda side, best were Ciara Fenton and Hannah Billings. U13 Hurlers beat Brigids in top of table clash. Junior A's drew with Wanderers in the Championship (2-7,0-13), with a great team effort, esp. Ciaran Johnson and Darren Ryan who grabbed the equaliser. Junior B has a hard fought Championship win over Erin's Isle (4-3,0-9). Seniors performed well in Championship defeat to Round Towers, with Ger Ryan again outstanding. Team of the week are our U11 hurlers who reached the Div 1 Final with a fine win over Faughs. Senior rallied brilliantly to draw with St. Peregrines in the league. Junior B's remain top of league after great win over St. Pats. Well done to Team of the Week our U11 Hurlers on their historic win over Cuala to capture the U11 A Cup. A busy week for Adult Football with all 4 teams involved in midweek and weekend games. Junior A's advanced to the Championship quarter final with a 4pt win over Wanderers, after a great 2nd half comeback. Junior C's defeated Peregrines, with rookies Conor Bates and Stephen Reynolds outstanding. U13 Hurlers produced a strong performance to defeat Scoil Ui Chonaill, best were Andrew Foley and goal scores Niall Gahan and Conor McGinn. U10 hurlers completed 5 wins in a row, while U9 hurlers had a great win over Cuala. Nursery Mini-league finals Sat 20th, always the brightest day in the club calender. A good week for the Senior footballers with a win over Ballyboden and a draw V Monicas. Junior A's drew with Marys midweek and then defeated Olafs by 1 pt. Junior B's had a convincing midweek win over Brigids with a super team performance. Junior C's maintained their good gallop with a big win over Finians and a hard fought victory over Rosmini, thanks to 2 superb goals from James Durkin. Well done to our lads on the Dublin North U15 hurlers V Antrim, Niall Terry, Matias McDonagh and Ronan McDyer. U10 boys finished season with a well deserved win over Donaghmore. U10 girls had 2 narrow wins over Na Fianna. Nursery Finals Day was a great event, thanks to all who supported and helped organise. Tcts for Dubs match must be collected 9-10pm on Fri. Good luck to Dublin hurlers on Sunday in their Leinster Final. Junior A hurlers drew with O'Dwyers, best C.Cronin, A O'Donoghue, J.Maguire. B's beat Na Fianna with a battling performance. Both Adult teams play at home next Friday, 7:45pm, all support welcome. Minor B Footballers had a good display v Na Fianna, best David Wolfson and Ronan O'Flaherty. A depleted U12 hurlers lost to Cuala, despite great perfs from Johnny Mullins, Brian Minihane, James Foxe. U11 hurlers had great league wins over Raheny and Lucan. Ladies Juniors good away win over Brigids, best Catherine Martin, Grainne Free, Zoe Murphy. U10 girls performed brilliantly in a 9 club blitz hosted by Nh Mearnog/St. Sylvesters. Seniors play Na Fianna (Wed 7:45pm, p35) and Vincents (Sat 6:30pm, away), all support welcome. Junior B Footballers defeated Ballinteer SJ (1-13, 4-8) in a very competitive game to remain top of the league, best were Conor Kelly, James Durkin and Conor Cronin.Well done to Ballyboden and Cuala on their great performances in the All-Ireland Feile. Minor hurlers defeated Vincents while in football A's lost narrowly to St. Marks, B's had a great 1pt win over Judes, but were unlucky to lose to St. James Gael on Sat. Well done to the girls who played in the Ger Canavan Tournament, three wins secured them a place in the semi finals, unfortunately, they were pipped at the post by a last minute goal in the semi, thanks to all for their superb effort.  U13/14 Hurlers travelled to Thurles for the Munster final playing Drum of Tipperary. Clontarf started slowly but finished strongly, thanks to Gerry and Jim for organising the trip.Minors beat Erin’s Isle, fighting to the end they held on for a deserved two point win. Everyone gave a 100% and showed great spirit. An historic week for Adult Football teams winning all nine games.  Seniors beat Na Fianna at home and were victors over St. Vincent’s away. Junior B’s defeated St. Anne’s away, best Paddy Mohan and Willie O’Connor (1-3).   On Friday they defeated Erin go Breagh at home. Aidan O’Halloran scored a great goal while Johnny O’Connell chipped in with 5 points from play.

Clontarf GAA Club Notes 20th July 2009

Our Junior hurlers continued their recent  good run with wins in their two away games.  A one point victory over St. Judes in an exciting league game with excellent performances from James Cantwell & John Maguire.  They followed  this by qualifying for the championship quarter final with a 6 point win over O'Dwyers in a well contested game with a good overall team performance. Ger Devine was outstanding at midfield and newcomer Ciaran McSharry made a huge contribution when introduced at half time. Joe Hoden and all the lads can now enjoy a well earned break   Wishing Robbie Stokes a speedy recovery from his injury.  Another busy week for our Adult Footballers with all three teams in action at home, both junior teams on Tuesday evening versus St. James’ Gaels and Portobello with Seniors on Wednesday against O’Dwyers.   Congratulations to Colm Faherty winner of our GAA Forecast Competition, thanks to all who supported same.  Full results on club website.

Senior's good run came to an end with a disappointing home defeat to O'Dwyers (0-8,1-9). Junior A's notched up their 4th win in a row, beating St. James Gael, best were John Maguire, Neil Arthur and Ian Sunderland. Next game for the A's is the Championship quarter final V St. Vincents on Aug 18th. Junior B's lost to Portobello but remain top of Div 8. Junior C's continue to push for the Div 12 title, with a good home win over Fingal Ravens (0-11,0-6), best were Craig McConnell and Ray Hanley. Junior A Hurlers play in the Championship quarter-final, away to Lucan tonight at 7:15pm, all support welcome. Junior A and B hurlers return to league action next Sunday. Well done to our Under 9 footballers who won the Joey Mooney memorial tournament shield at Erins Isle on Saturday after beating Kickhams in the semi and Fingallians in the final. Junior A hurlers lost Championship quarter final to a strong Lucan side.Junior B hurlers lost in the league to Erin Go Bragh (2-8,1-6) - with great performances from Kevin Fitzgerald, Conor Bates, Paddy Nolan and a class goal from Eoin Teeling. It's another big week for Adult Football, with 3 teams in Championship action. On Tue the Junior A's travel to St. Vincents for the Championship 1/4 Final at 7pm. On Wed. the B's host St. James Gael at 7pm, again at the 1/4 Final stage.On Thur the Seniors play Raheny at 8:30pm in Parnell Pk. All support welcome at these matches. Seniors acquitted themselves well in the Championship v Raheny, with fine performances by Aidan Morrissey, Damien Mullins,Shane McIntyre and Chris Morrissey. League game V Garristown, Wed 8pm. Junior A's battled well in defeat to St. Vincents. Junior B's reached Championship semi-final thanks to solid defending from Fergus Clifford and Conor Cronin, while James Durkin and Denis Gallagher excelled up front. Hurlers remain in the promotion hunt, training Tue/Thur 7:30pm. Ladies compete in the Immediate Shield Final, Sunday 30th - Russell Park at 6pm. All support welcome. Condolences to the Sheehan family on the passing of Con, a founder member of our club.The Senior footballers had an impressive win against Garristown, with great displays from Ian O'Dwyers, Ciaran Johnson and Aidan Morrissey. Junior A hurlers beat O'Dwyers in the Doyle Cup (2-08,5-19). Minor hurlers had a good win over Peregrines, with Harry Connolly and Jack McCaffery excellent.Ladies Shield Final posponed till Sept 9th, 8:30pm at Balgriffin. U13 Hurlers drew with Thomas Davis.Our U12s hosted three clubs on Sat. as part of the Leinster Hurling Tournament, with Ballyfinn from Co Laois, Taghmon/Camross from Wexford and Naomh Mearnog visiting us for a great day of hurling, with the wexford lads winning out. Well done to our Junior B Footballers who reached the Championship final after a hard fought victory over Ballyboden SE (2-6,2-4). There were great individual goals by James Durkin, Conor Cronin and magnificant defending by Paul Murphy and wonder sub Morgan O'Halloran, but overall this was a battling team performance. Junior A hurlers host Craobh Ciaran on Sunday in a vital league clash. Excellent football league wins for our U16's and U14's. U11 hurlers beat Cuala, while U8's drew with Whitehall in their competitive debut. Ladies Inters play Lucan in the Shield Final on Wed at Balgriffin, 8:30pm, please support. In Minor Football Championship action A's lost by 1pt to Castleknock, while B's had a great 2pt win over St. Judes. U14 Hurlers had a big league win over O'Tooles (4-12,3-3), with Conor Mullins hitting a fantastic 3-5. U13 Hurlers beat Naomh Fionnbarra. U11's had mixed results against Donoagmore with one team winning by a point and another team losing by a point. U9's recorded 3 good wins from 5 games. Senior Footballers lost by 5 pts to Clanna Gael Fontenoy in the league. Juniors B's lost away to Kilmacud Crokes (2-10,2-7). Junior C's clinched promotion with a win over Peregrines, best were Craig McConnell (3-1) and Aidan O'Donogue. U16A Footballers had a good win against Cuala in the league. Best for Clontarf were Jack McCaffrey, Niall Dunleavy and Ross O'Hanlon. U11 Hurlers had two fantastic wins over St. Vincents in Div 1 and a win over Ballyboden. Hard luck to our Junior B squad and management who lost their Championship Final (1-10,0-6). Well done to St. Oliver Plunketts/ER on their deserved win and thanks to our supporters on the day. Senior Footballers lost narrowly in AFL3 to St. Margarets (3-3,0-11), despite a spirited performance from Neil Shanahan. Junior C Footballers will hope to win the AFL12 North league when they travel to St. Finians Swords next Sat 10th, 4pm. Minor hurlers had a resounding win over Nh Mearnog in the Championship. Both Adult Hurling teams in league action next weekend. U16 Footballers had a hard fought victory over Kilmacud in the league. Thanks to all who attended the clubhouse for the last BBQ of the season. Well done to our Teams of the Week - U13 Hurlers, league Div 2 winners and our Girls U14's who reached the Div 1 Championship Final where they will play Ballyboden SE.  Junior C Footballers captured the AFL12N league title, well done to all. Minor A Footballers secured a Championship semi final place with a 4 point win over Finbarrs. U14 Hurlers had a good win away to Liffey Gaels (6-7,4-9). U12A Footballers had a great match against Ballymun losing by a 1pt after a great comeback. U11 Footballers won all 3 matches, while U10's scored a great win away to Sylvesters, with fine displays from Eoin Gaine, Kieran McKeon and James Shouldice. Ladies Inters had a great draw against Kilmacud Crokes. Next at home V Lucan Sarfields on the 14th at 19.30pm, with an away match V Skerries harps on the 17th. Ladies Inters play Garda on Wed p35, with the winner promoted to Div1, all support welcome. Junior C Footballers finished their great season with a fine performance to beat Rosmini (3-14,1-4). Bomber Lynch and Colm McCabe gave outstanding performances for the Super 12's. Junior B's produced an excellent team performance to beat an under strength Clan Na Gael (3-17,0-2) and remain in the hunt for promotion. Minor Footballers play Erin Isle away on Sun in the Championship semi-final. U16 Footballers had a good league win over Ballinteer, best were Ryan Latin, Mattias McDonagh, Niall Carrol, Mark Hughes. Brilliant battling from the Junior B’s in a 0-10 to 0-7 win over Ballinteer. Great performances from Donal Redmond, Colly O’Connor, Conor Cronin and Colm Kilfeather. U21 hurlers play St Marks in Championship tonight (Tuesday) at 7.30pm on pitch 34. On Saturday, U21 footballers play in the Championship semi final v Kilmacud Crokes in Silverpark ( Kilmacud ) throw in 2.45 pm.Support for both games would be greatly appreciated.U13 girls did the club proud, bringing home the Shield against Cuala at Naomh Mearnog.  An exciting draw was played out as the under 16 footballers took on Templeogue Synge St at home under lights in the league. Hard fought win for the U21 hurlers under lights also. The U13B comeback kings were denied a great victory by a late goal against the run of plan against St Brigid’s. Big thank you all the lads in the AHL5 team who are going great guns in the cup. Best wishes to our under 12 boys’ contingent who make up the bulk of the Belgrove Senior Boys team contesting the Cumann na mBunscol Corn Kitterick Division 1 final tomorrow from 1.45 in Croke Park. Congratulations to the under 21 footballers for their superb home win over Kilmacud Crokes. The U16s topped off a great year by winning the Div 3 Shield hurling final v St Mark’s on pitch 34. Well done to all, and thanks for the great support on the day. The U16 footballers, winners of the Div 2 league, came from behind to beat St Brigid’s by a point in a gruelling match.The under 11 footballers traded a win and a loss against Na Fianna, while it was also one win and one defeat for the U9 hurlers in the indoor hurling against Lucan Sarsfields. Club monster draw a great success with the Toyota Yaris and the cruise holiday prizes given out. Second part of the draw takes place next Saturday night in the club bar, which will also host musical entertainment. Well done to the organisers for a great day out in Croke Park last Friday for the club lunch. www.clontarfgaa.com
